Chelsea Flower Show
The Chelsea Flower Show has changed beyond all recognition. It was changing fast when we first put our toes in with a rock garden imitating one at Waddesdon Manor Dairy which we were restoring. There was still a ‘Rock Garden Bank’ at Chelsea at the time, where the same gardens were wheeled out almost every year with rocks and rills and azaleas. We learnt a lot from these old show hands, but the other newcomer was Dan Pearson, and a wind of change was definitely blowing. The next year we were more adventurous and built a ruin and brought in an old living Mulberry Tree. It was an incredible experience, but we like our springtime in our own and our job gardens, and we chose not to do another.
