Wormsley
A garden we loved to spend bluebell time working in was Wormsley on the Chilterns. The terroire, working on the chalk, in a cathedral of mature beech trees, swimming with bluebells is as inspiring as it gets. Our client was not well and watched us from the landing window as we toiled in the steep woodland behind the house. Sadly, soon after we finished this strange ‘Campo Santo’, which he absolutely adored and said had lifted his spirits with the watching of the endeavour, our client died and was buried in the middle of it, which was not something any of us had intended. We lined his grave with moss, hellebore flowers and a cricket ball. It was very moving.
